Dear Reader,

Tablets like the iPad are a terrific new way for us to present for you the unique content Enquirer journalists produce. Photos are stunning on the full screen. Videos are enjoyable and easy (especially with the extra sound if you have a wireless speaker). And stories are easy to read, just swiping right to left to move from one story to the next.

Knowing that thousands of you will get a tablet for Christmas, we have prepared some content for you to enjoy on your new toy.

Download the Cincinnati.com app for the tablet. Add it to your home screen for convenience. Then settle into a comfy spot and enjoy. The top five features on our app on Tuesday are special for Christmas Day:

  1. Watch the video story of young Maria Valentina Almeida, in Cincinnati and far from home for medical treatment, blessing us with her exquisite solo performance of “Ave Maria”. Read Mark Curnutte’s beautiful story. Both brought tears to my eyes.

  2. Swipe through our photojournalists’ favorite photos of the year.

  3. Swipe through Polly Campbell’s favorite restaurant dishes of 2012.

  4. See Cincinnati.com’s top stories of the year.

  5. Swipe through the Associated Press’ best national and international photos of the year.

Every day through this holiday week, we’ll bring you some special content right at the top of the app to help you enjoy our content in ways that take special advantage of your tablet experience.

And long after the holidays, check in with us when you settle in with your tablet for the evening. We post content at 7 p.m. at the top of the app specifically for the kind of experience a lot of people like to have with their tablet at the end of the day.

All day every day you can find the local and business news, sports, dining and entertainment, obituaries, weather and traffic information you need on Cincinnati.com on any device.

If you get a new iPhone, Android smartphone or Kindle Fire, we have apps for those, too. I enjoy our whole suite of smartphone apps -- Cincinnati.com... NKY.com specifically for Northern Kentucky news ... our brand new Things to Do app with search, movie trailers and showtimes, Polly Campbell reviews and more... our Varsity high school sports app with recruiting news, scores and stats, photo and video... and our really popular Reds and Bengals apps with updates all day long from John Fay and Joe Reedy, live scoring, player stats, photos and videos.

Sign up for alerts on our apps to make sure you don’t miss any news on these topics you care about.

Apps are another way for us to deliver our unique local content to you. But the most important thing really is the content that matters to the community and to your family. I hope you enjoy the special content we have prepared for you this Christmas week. Blessings to your family from all of us at Enquirer Media.
